The story of Forgrave begins long before our first tea leaf was carefully chosen. It is a story deeply rooted in family heritage and a lifelong passion for discovery and connection.
Founder and ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier Catherine Hicks Cosgrove is a devoted student of art history. She’s long cherished the way tea can transport us—to distant places, cherished memories, or quiet moments of reflection and inspiration.
Forgrave is named in honor of her great-grandfather, Paul Forgrave, whose legacy continues to inspire her. He bestowed the family signet ring inscribed with the words “Semper Ad Astra”—always to the stars. These words became her compass. At its heart, Forgrave seeks to cultivate moments of reflection and ritual that inspire us to reach higher.

Rooted in neoclassical revival, we draw inspiration from art, architecture, and cultural traditions to create the timeless yet contemporary aesthetic found in the meticulously crafted details of our product design and packaging, embossed in France and applied by hand in our studio. Every element is designed to evoke a sense of place, of history, and of beauty, reflecting the enduring heritage passed down through generations.
