This traditional Japanese green tea offers a savory, umami-rich experience with notes of seaweed, grass, and subtle sweetness. A grounding and contemplative choice, perfect for mindful moments and focused flow.

From Our Tea Sommelier

Sencha clears the static. It's grassy, clean, and a little savory — like stepping outside after a rain, when everything feels sharper. I brew it when I want to feel present and alert.

The Four Steps to Tasting Like a Sommelier

Behind the Blend

Every Forgrave blend is designed to be read the same way: aroma, color, body, and finish. It is the sequence Catherine uses to taste each blend she composes, a multisensory way of experiencing the tea that moves from first breath to last trace. Flavor lives inside body and finish, arriving on the palate at first sip and lingering long after.

Aroma
Step One
Aroma
Breathe it in before the first sip. Aroma sets the expectation for what the palate is about to meet and often carries more of the tea than the tongue alone will register.
A briny, saltish seagrass note up top, opening into the savory umami green tea is known for.
Color
Step Two
Color
Tilt the cup toward the light and study the liquor, the color of the brewed tea. Each tea has a distinct and expected hue, and its clarity is the first signal of a leaf steeped properly.
The light green edging toward yellow that marks a classic Sencha, exactly as it should read.
Body
Step Three
Body
Take a slow sip and let it rest across the whole palate. This is where flavor first arrives, alongside the weight and texture of the tea on the tongue.
Medium and rounded, green tea lift balanced by a savory umami fullness that holds the middle.
Finish
Step Four
Finish
Breathe out gently after you swallow and notice what lingers. Much of flavor is carried on the exhale as aroma returns through the nose, so the finish is where a tea reveals its final notes.
Umami lingers into a savory, almost briny close.
